About Academia Hernando

Our History

Academia Hernando was formed as a division of learning in retirement of the University of South Florida. It was initially called “Mondays in Brooksville” and met in the Courthouse Commission Chambers. It was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) domestic nonprofit on November 18, 2010. Our new location is at The Welcome Om Center, 4260 Lake in the Woods Drive, Spring Hill.

Our Mission

Academia Hernando is a not-for-profit lifelong learning organization providing quality instruction and learning experiences for adult students throughout Hernando County, Florida, and beyond. Our goal is to inform, educate, and inspire adult learners through a series of weekly lectures on a wide variety of topics.

Board of Directors

Academia Hernando is a domestic non-profit business, incorporated in Florida on November 18, 2010. It is governed by a board of directors and is an IRS 501(c)(3) organization (organizations exempt under the Internal Revenue Code (“IRC”) section 501(c)(3). Donations and support of Academia Hernando are tax-deductible.
